During the summer I often visit Elizabethtown KY to meet my son and his wife to have lunch and spend the day with them. This summer we discovered the American Legion Water Park as we were looking for a pool to swim at.
The American Legion Water Park pool is located at 899 N Miles St, Elizabethtown, KY 42701. It is open to the public, but there is a small entry fee to get into the park. We took 9 people and it cost us less than $100. For what they have to offer there, I think that is a reasonable price as you could easily spend 2-3 hours in the water park.
The pool offers party services and a party room. You can click here for more information about the services they offer outside of swimming at this pool. The bathrooms have a few changing areas available and were really clean and well-kept. There are also a few vending machines if you forgot to bring snacks or a drink. There were also lockers just outside the bathrooms.
Next door to the pool is a free splash pad, so if you have little ones and don’t want to mess with the pool, that is an option along with a large playground that has lots of handicap options.
The water park itself is not very big, but for a few hours of fun, it offers a good variety for most ages.
Kids Zone
The little kids zone offers your typical area to climb and slide into the water. Along with a big bucket that periodically dumps water on those below. Next to the kids’ zone was a whirlpool that the kids could get in which would just make the kids go in a circle when they entered it.
If they get a little deeper, there is a basketball goal on the side that the kids can shoot hoops. That area got a little deeper, so it might be for those who are about 9 and up to play in that area, depending on their height.
Deep End
The deep end on the far side of the pool was roped off and provided those who were better swimmers an area to really practice their swimming. I did find the size was a bit small ,and it was more crowded than I would normally prefer.
Water Slides
There are two big water slides, and the water at the end was capped at 3 feet 8 inches. There is a straight faster water slide and a slower windy snake-like slide. As we were there the line was never very long and always monitored by a lifeguard.
Lazy River
The lazy river was small and had plenty of tubes. Due to the size, don’t expect much here if you go on the lazy river.
Overall, this is a nice little pool in Elizabethtown, KY. It offers you an area to swim, but also some extras like the water slides and lazy river to give the kids some variation. The lifeguards do a pool check every 2 hours or so to be safe and give them a break.
If you’re looking for a good place to cool down or combine it with the playground next door and keep the kids entertained, I highly recommend the American Legion Water Park pool.
